Sure, Arne Slot's side have scored the most goals in the Premier League (75). Sure they have also outperformed every team massively when it comes to their total xG (72.77). Sure, they have run away with the league and can win it with five games to spare.

But, at the same time there has been an overreliance on Mohamed Salah to deliver those goals.

The players who have been used in the no.9 role have underperformed massively. Even when fit Diogo Jota has struggled to be clinical in front of goal. Darwin Nunez has been very frustrating to watch at times - even if he did have some small flickering moments of promise.

It's very possible, Hughes could be moving on from both of them this summer. Nunez already has one way out of the door after Anfield Watch revealed exclusively that he was close to leaving in the January transfer window.

There's an exhaustive list of players who could replace Nunez. Anfield Watch revealed exclusively that Julian Alvarez is someone the Reds would be willing to sign and break their club record for.

We also exclusively revealed that Liverpool have held preliminary talks with the agent of Hugo Ekitike.

Other options for Liverpool include Alexander Isak, although he will be difficult to get as well as Victor Osimhen, Jonathan David, Liam Delap and Viktor Gyokeres.

But the best among them may be Serhou Guirassy. Recently, the Guinean forward has been on fire, he's currently the top-scorer in the Champions League and has scored 29 goals and registered eight assists in 41 matches for Borussia Dortmund this season.

In total he's averaging a goal or assist every 93 minutes that he spends on the pitch.

At 29, having been a late bloomer with only 107 league appearances under his belt by the time he was 24 years old, Guirassy still has plenty of years left at the top of his game.

Unlike some of Liverpool's other options who would be more 'project' signings. Guirassy is a ready-made replacement for Nunez who can come in straightaway and deliver.

Africa Foot has recently written that Borussia Dortmund have set a €70m price tag on the Guinean forward. In the same report, former Liverpool cult hero Titi Camara tipped the Reds to make a move for Guirassy.

"I would see him at Liverpool. It's not a choice of the heart," Camara said.

"But a sporting reflection. Liverpool don't have a true number nine and with Salah next to him, he would probably score a lot of goals."

Camara pretty much sums up why Guirassy would be the dream forward for Liverpool and the reality is that he might not even cost as much as €70m.

That's because according to Sky Sports Germany, Guirassy has a release clause agreement with Borussia Dortmund that can be activated after the FIFA Club World Cup this summer.

Sky Germany do not go into details what this agreement is only that a few specific clubs can trigger it. Among those clubs who can trigger Guirassy's release clause this summer is Liverpool.

The list also includes Real Madrid, Barcelona, Manchester United, Manchester City, Chelsea and Arsenal.

It is claimed Guirassy doesn't necessarily want to leave Dortmund, he's very content with where he is.

However, when a club like Liverpool come knocking, that situation could change.

With this new piece of information emerging, Liverpool have pretty much been given the green light to at least attempt to sign Guirassy.

The trigger clause is there for the taking and he is a player who is pretty much perfect for the Reds.
